Sustainable Colombian Cacao Sourcing– Lök Foods Austria

Sustainable Cacao Sourcing from Colombia

Fine-flavor cacao sourced through long-term partnerships and responsible practices.

Integrated sourcing model

Lök Austria sources its cacao through an integrated sourcing project developed together with its strategic partner.

This model follows a shared value approach, integrating social, environmental and economic criteria across the entire cacao supply chain.

The project aims to strengthen rural communities affected by structural poverty and historical socio-economic vulnerability, while ensuring long-term quality, traceability and sustainability of fine-flavor Colombian cacao.

    Supporting more than 15,000 farmers
    • - Long-term relationships with smallholder farmers
    • - Fair pricing and transparent commercial practices
    • - Strengthening rural livelihoods
    Long-term farmer relationships

Our sourcing model is built on long-term relationships with more than 15,000 cacao producers across Colombia, including smallholder farmers, producer associations, regional buyers and partner farms. This long-term engagement enables stable commercial relationships, fair price transfer, continuous technical support and consistent quality and origin control.

    Working in vulnerable rural territories

Our cacao sourcing model operates in rural and geographically isolated communities that have historically been affected by armed conflict, limited economic opportunities and the presence of illicit economies.

Through cacao production, our supply chain promotes a legal and sustainable source of income, contributing to territorial stabilization, community development and the strengthening of local social structures.

      Focus on priority territories

Our sourcing regions form part of priority rural territories identified within territorial development programmes in Colombia.

Tumaco (Nariño) is one of the key regions. This territory has been historically affected by illicit crops and violence linked to drug trafficking. In this and other sourcing regions, our partner implements rural education programmes, entrepreneurship initiatives, sustainable agriculture projects, associative strengthening and environmental protection activities. These initiatives benefit farmers, young people and rural families and support long-term community development.
